Department of Chemistry

Department of Chemistry was established in October, 2004 soon after the onset of KUST in 2002, with only forty students and two faculty members. It was shifted to its current location of Academic Block Uphill Building in 2007 and occupied the ground floor of the building. Now, it is one of largest postgraduate department with more than three hundred students and eighteen highly qualified faculty members. Most of the faculty members are having Doctorate and Post Doctorate qualifications from world ranking institutions of good repute.

Department of Chemistry coordinates and provides facilities for exchange of knowledge and basic and applied research in different fields of science in general and of chemistry in particular. The department has established links to national and international institutions for mutual collaboration to produce quality research and trainings.

Vision Statement:

To be recognized asmodeldepartment of excellence in chemical sciences for educating and graduating students prepared to compete in and contribute to the ever-changing, technology-centered world of the 21st century.

Mission Statement Department of Chemistry

Training with a high standards at BS, M.Sc, M.Phil, and Ph.D levels for excellence in four areas of Chemistry including, Biochemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Physical Chemistry. Conducting quality teaching, basic and applied research activities, offering consultancy to local industries and institutions and to participate in community development projects.
