MPhil/MS/PhD

ADMISSION PROCEDURE/ RULES FOR MPHIL/MS, MPHIL/MS LEADING TO PHD AND PHD

  1. The MPhil/MS, M.Phil/ MS leading to PhD and PhD Programmes in various disciplines shall be advertised by the Directorate of Academics in the National Press subject to the availability of infrastructure, staff and facilities and shall be open to all eligible candidates.
  2. Application for admission shall be submitted to the office of the concerned Department/ Institute/ Centre on the prescribed form (available in the prospectus) on or before the last date of form submission. The application form must be supported by the attested photocopies of the previously obtained Certificates/Degrees/DMCs/ Transcripts, valid result card of GAT-General (NTS)/ GRE (International) Subject (ETS)/ GAT-Subject (NTS), Domicile, CNIC of the candidate and of his/her father/guardian and any other documents as mentioned in the advertisement or as mentioned in the prescribed application form.

iii. The clause 1(vii) shall be applicable.

  1. The concerned Departmental Academic/Admission Committee shall scrutinize the application forms in light of the prescribed eligibility criteria and shall prepare a merit list of eligible candidates which will be displayed/ uploaded on the concerned department/institute/centre notice board/ university website with copy to the concerned Dean and Director Academics.
  2. In case of query/ objection, the clause 1(xii) may be followed.
  3. After entertaining the queries/ objections by the concerned Departmental Academic Committee and if necessary, the merit list will be revised.

vii. The list of provisionally admitted candidates will be displayed/ uploaded on the notice board/ website, the candidates will appear in person before the Departmental Academic/Admission Committee for verification of original documents and will deposit the admission fee as per prescribed schedule. Those who fail to appear before the Committee alongwith original documents/ deposit the admission fee as per prescribed schedule, his/her provisional admission will stand cancel and the vacant seat(s) shall be filled up from the waiting list and the list(s) so prepared will be displayed/uploaded on the notice board/ website and the candidates will be admitted as per procedure mentioned above.

MERIT DETERMINATION CRITERIA FOR MPHIL LEADING TO PHD

  1. 40% weightage shall be given to the aggregate of marks all examinations from SSC/equivalent to MA/M.Sc/Equivalent as per following formula:

Marks %age in SSC/equivalent x 1= A

Marks %age in HSSC/equivalent x 2= B

Marks %age in BA/B.Sc/equivalent x 3= C

Marks %age in MA/M.Sc/equivalent x 4= D

Aggregate = A+B+C+D

  1. 05 marks for distinction (Gold Medal) in each examination in BA/B.Sc/Equivalent and MA/M.Sc/Equivalent.

iii. 50% weight shall be given to the test equivalent to GAT/ GRE.

Note: In case of MPhil/MS, MPhil/MS leading to PhD in Education, the marks of B.Ed (1 year) and M.Ed (1 year) shall be added for getting the percentage of marks at par MA/MSc.

 


MERIT DETERMINATION FOR PHD

The merit will be determined by the concerned Departmental Academic/ Admission Committee keeping in view references and research proposal submitted by the candidate alongwith their application forms.

Scholarships (Sponsored by Government of KPK)

Mora Scholarship

Sponsored Agency: Local Govt. of each District.

Eligibility & Procedure for Apply: The student who enrolled in the respective department/Institute at KUST will be eligible to apply on the prescribed form subject to non-beneficiary of any other scholarship. The application for can be obtained from the photocopier shops at KUST or can be obtained from Local Zakat Committee of their respective districts.


FATA Scholarship

Eligibility & Procedure for Apply: The student who enrolled in the respective department/Institute at KUST and have the domicile of respective FATA,/FR will be eligible to apply on the prescribed form. The application form can be obtained from Photocopier shops at KUST and can be obtained from their respective Political Agent Office


Frontier Education Foundation (Fef) Scholarship

Eligibility & Procedure for Apply:  All the students enrolled in Kohat University of Science & Technology are eligible to apply except those whose parents are government employees, availing any other scholarship or have strong financial position. The application form can be obtained from the photocopier shops at KUST or can be downloaded from FEF official website.


Pakistan Bait Ul Mall

Eligibility & Procedure for Apply: All the students enrolled in Kohat University of Science & Technology are eligible to apply except those whose parents are government employees, availing any other scholarship or have strong financial position. The application form can be obtained from the photocopier shops at KUST or can be downloaded from Pakistan Bait ul Mall official website.

Internal Scholarships

Merit Scholarships:

A regular student of KUST will be eligible for merit scholarship if he / she obtains 70% marks or SGPA of 3.00 and above in a batch / semester. 20% amongst the said qualifying students of class/ semester will get the merit scholarship subject to clearance of University fee / dues / fine etc. Further break-up of these 20% students for award of merit scholarship is as under:

  • Top 5% of the qualifying students (among the above 20%) will avail 100% waiver in tuition fee.
  • Next 5% of the qualifying students (among the above 20%) will avail 75% waiver in tuition fee.
  • Next 5% of the qualifying students (among the above 20%) will avail 50% waiver in tuition fee.
  • Remaining 5% of the qualifying students (among the above 20%) will avail 25% waiver in tuition fee.

Poverty-Cum-Merit Scholarship

A student who secures at least 2.5 SGPA & whose parents’ total monthly income is not more than Rs.30,000/- may apply for the poverty-cum-merit scholarship. However, the student whose parents are dead and whose income is not more than Rs.40,000/-, may be considered for the award of this scholarship on humanitarian grounds (such as physical incapacity or consisting a large number of family members, etc)


Brother/Sister Concession

When two or more brothers/sisters are enrolled at KUST or any institution under the management of Kohat University, the one in the highest class shall pay the full tuition fee prescribed and the others will pay half of the full tuition fee. If the brothers/sisters are in the same semester then decision will be made on the basis of academics performance of both students in their latest semester result announced.


 

Scholarship (HEC Sponsored)

Prime Minister’s Fee Re-imbursement Program

  • The students who got admission in Master , M.Phi and Ph.D programs
  • The student having domicile of the less developed areas/regions selected by HEC Procedure to apply:
  • All the students can be registered themselves on pmfrs.hec.gov.pk on online registration system.
  • When a student successfully register himself/herself than he/she will provide their CNIC, Domicile and Fee slip in original for further approval of the focal person.

 

HEC Need Based Scholarship.

Eligibility & Procedure for Apply: all the students who got admission in any department/Institute at KUST and are not availing any other scholarship from any organization can apply for the HEC Need Based scholarship. The continuation of the scholarship of already selected students is based on satisfactory academics performance. The application form for the said scholarship can be obtained from photocopier shops at kust and can also be downloaded from HEC website.


HEC-German Need Based Scholarships:

Eligibility & Procedure for Apply: all the students who got admission in any department/Institute at KUST and are not availing any other scholarship from any organization can apply for the HEC Need Based scholarship. The continuation of the scholarship of already selected students is based on satisfactory academics performance.
