The Director’s Message IER

I feel privileged to introduce Institute of Education and Research (IER). The Institute of Education and Research was established at the inception of KUST in 2001. Since then it has emerged into a full-fledged institute offering an array of programs from B.Ed to PhD level. All the faculty members at IER are holding PhD degree. We have a small faculty at IER but all are energetic, motivated and well entrenched in their respective fields.

We at IER believe in “Student First and Teacher is the Backbone of Educational Process”. We offer an interactive environment and research-based teaching enabling the students to sharpen their research skills and learn different teaching techniques. They are equipped with knowledge and skills regarding all facets of education including curriculum development, educational psychology, assessment and students’ appraisal strategies, teaching strategies etc. The research students are provided ample opportunities to explore the realm of research.  The undergrad students are not only equipped with knowledge regarding different disciplines of Education, but also trained in teaching methodologies in a real time situation. The post-grad students are introduced to modern trends in education and research and how to carry out research during the course work. Their research skills are demonstrated in writing a full-fledged thesis. The students’ inner talent is brought out with the help of class assignments, presentations, seminars and workshops. With the help of a well stocked library and use of modern gadgets during teaching and research, the faculty and the students try to achieve the above objectives.

I hope that our graduates will fill the vacuum of a role model teacher and a competent educational researcher.
