About Institute

The Institute of Computing (IoC) is the largest and pioneering teaching and research department of Kohat University of Science and Technology (KUST). Its foundation was laid down with the establishment of KUST in 2001. Geographically, IoC is located at the heart of Kohat Indus highway junction which provides easy access to Islamabad, provincial capital Peshawar, FATA, Southern KPK and neighboring districts of Punjab. The highly professional academic standards coupled with our strategic location enable us to attract large and demographically diverse range of faculty members, researchers and students from all areas of Pakistan in general and the aforementioned areas, in particular.

The IoC offers various degree programs, certification programs, trainings and services to the academia as well as the general society. We offer the recent and updated curricula both at graduate (PhD and MS) and undergraduate degree programs (BSCS, BSSE and MCS). Special focus is put on making all degree programs at par with reputed universities of the world under the guidelines provided by the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan. In addition to academic courses, the IoC KUST regularly organizes seminars, workshops and conferences.

The existing faculty members are qualified from reputed foreign and domestic universities having research specializations in Artificial Intelligence, Security and Network Technologies, Data Science, Natural Language Processing, IT Management, Information Retrieval, Text and Data Mining, Mobile Technologies, Distributed Systems and Theoretical Computer Science. Some of our faculty members are pursuing PhD from well-reputed universities of the technologically advanced countries. The IoC is equipped with state of the art facilities providing high bandwidth Internet connectivity (both wired and wireless). Other facilities include lecture rooms, computing labs, final year projects lab, research and development cell, web development cell, mobile apps development cell and CCNA lab, all having multimedia projectors, OHP and LED Screens etc. Furnishing of our own seminar hall and smart classroom projects have been approved already and these facilities will be soon available in the IoC KUST.

The young and dynamic IoC faculty and staff are continuously striving to improve the standards of academic productivity and expand the existing facilities of our Institute. The CCNA certification training program has been launched recently. We are also looking to launch other market oriented certification programs such as CCNP, CCIE, RHCE, LAMP, DBA etc. apart from offering trainings to the entire university and local community that includes skills development trainings, open source software trainings and other wide range of IT Courses for beginners to advanced level learners.

In a bid to impart quality computing education to the students in relatively less educated FATA areas, the IoC KUST has established its new branch in Hangu city where 48 students have been enrolled in the first year of our undergraduate (BSCS) degree program. This success inspired us further about more exciting IoC expansion endeavors by establishing another branch in the new women campus of Kohat University of Science and Technology.
